Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels

Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels offer the design and construction industry a new alternative to wood-based, gypsum-based, Portland cement panels, and poured gypsum systems used for subfloor and underlayment applications. Comprised of a proprietary magnesium oxide (MgO) cement, Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels offer superior fire resistance, structural strength, and sound deadening than the alternatives with less material – one panel can replace two alternatives while providing comparable, and often better, fire resistance and structural strength.

Unlike traditional underlayment products, Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels can be installed prior to completion of the roof or level above as rain and weather will not damage the panels over the course of normal construction. Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels are also more durable and resistant to damage and biological degradation than other systems, making them an ideal material for multifamily and commercial underlayment and subfloor applications. Panels are installed using traditional tools and methods and easily attach to metal or wood studs.

PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL DOCUMENTS

Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels provide structural support and fire resistance in 1/2″ or 3/4″ panels for subfloor and underlayment use in commercial and multifamily buildings. Unlike fire-retardant-treated wood (FRTW) sheets, Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels panels will char, not burn, and maintain their structural integrity when exposed to fire. Panels may be used for both fire resistance and structural strength on their own in subfloor and underlayment applications, unlike wood and gypsum-based products that require multiple layers and added thickness to achieve the same results.

In a fire event, panels absorb large amounts of heat, contributing to a delay in fire and smoke spread. Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels provide occupants and emergency personnel with additional time to evacuate and perform life-saving rescues in the event of a fire event.

Innovating the Construction Industry

One area where Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels significantly outperform the competition is in their ability to be installed prior to completion of the roof or floor above. Unlike wood and gypsum-based products, including poured gypsum underlayment systems, Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels will not deteriorate or receive damage from rain and weather conditions when left exposed to the elements. Panels remain dimensionally stable and smooth over the course of normal construction, as opposed to alternative products that can deteriorate, delaminate, and experience fungal growth due to exposure to moisture.

Advanced Structural Strength & Stability

Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels outperform wood and gypsum-based and Portland cement panels in flexural strength and dimensional stability out-of-the-box. These benefits become increasingly valuable over the course of a project’s construction as alternative products will deteriorate and degrade due to weather and foot traffic.

Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels are an ideal solution for multifamily and commercial project teams that can benefit from the panels’ industry-leading flexural strength and dimensional stability. Specifying Innovation MgO Wall Panels with these attributes in mind enables architects and designers to save time and cost through innovative designs, such as using one single 1/2″ or 3/4″ Innovation MgO Subfloor Panel in place of two other wood or gypsum-based products.

Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels vs. Traditional Products

No Wet Trades Needed

Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels replace the “wet trades” that install poured gypsum underlayment systems and can instead be installed by framing crews using traditional tools and methods in all weather conditions. Doing so saves a week or more of curing time per gypsum pour and additional time with the reduction of an additional trade and delays that may arise.

Install During Wet Weather

Unlike wood-based subfloor and underlayment products, Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels can be installed in all weather conditions and even without a roof on the building or floor above. Rain and weather won’t damage Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels during normal construction, as opposed to wood-based products, which will deteriorate and could experience fungal growth over time.

Naturally Fire-Resistive

Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels are naturally fire resistive, unlike fire-rated wood and gypsum-based products that rely on a chemical coating or facer material that can deteriorate or delaminate due to foot traffic and other damage during construction.

Innovative Applications

Replace Poured Gypsum

Unlike poured gypsum underlayment systems, Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels require no curing time. Installers can simply fasten panels to wood or metal joists and continue working on walls and ceilings above, saving days and weeks on the project's schedule. Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels install using traditional tools and methods, such as circular saws and screw guns, eliminating the need for large trucks and messy liquid systems that can delay work on the jobsite.

Save Labor Time

Installers are able to fasten Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels to the metal or wood joists in all weather conditions, even without a roof on the building or floor above. Wood-based products will experience some deterioration in these conditions, and poured gypsum systems will have to wait for dry weather.

Improve Indoor Air Quality

Innovation MgO Subfloor Panels provide added fire resistance to the subfloor and underlayment systems of commercial and multifamily buildings. Panels are naturally fire-resistive and provide no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or harmful offgasses that could negatively impact indoor air quality.
